Hi...I am new here. We just bought an aquatic snail to keep our fantail betta fish company. He (or she??) is orange and for the life of me I cannot think of what the seller called it but I think I remember it had gold in it. He said that he feeds his snails lettuce. We have been feeding it lettuce, yellow beans and bananas and it is doing just great. I am enthralled watching this lovely creature eat and move and just be! Is there anything else I should be feeding it? Also, they are both in a small aquarium with no filtration and no pump. Any advise/recommendations would be great. Thanks in advance, Patty

Hiya and welcome ;D
Firstly I would add a filter to your tank...apple snails are messy little blighters and poop a lot. During the winter you'll need a heater to keep the tank at around 24C as they are tropical snails.
Keeping them with Bettas is hit and miss.....I would keep an eye on any tentacle nipping.
Iceberg lettuce is pants and contains no vitamins but romaine is much better. I also feed mine kale, parsley, algae wafers, critter crisps (which I make myself), bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, green beans, sugarsnap peas, garden peas, sweetcorn etc.
I would get a larger tank if your tank is very small.....something like a 10g would be perfect and then you would only have to do one water change a week rather than everyday when you don't have a filter.
Have a good read around the site and feel free to ask any questions.
