I'm on the lookout for a new tank for Bubba the oscar and Hannibal the plec. Ideally I'm looking for a minimum size of 48" x 18" x 18", but bigger preferred. Second hand, and as cheap as poss. Favour will be given to those with hoods and stands, as it means I don't have to go looking for them as well *lol*. But, the tank is the most important things, so bare bones considered too. I live in Keighley, West Yorkshire, and don't drive so unless it was in the immediate area I'd be very grateful for delivery (which would be taken into account money wise). I know it's a long shot, but shy bairns get nowt as my mam used to say

Do you have a freecycle site or a craigslist over in the UK? I've heard of people scoring large tanks like that 65 you're looking for that way. Another possible source is Tim over at www.corydorasworld.com If he doesn't have it, hey may know where to find something for you. Oh, and that's the minimum you want to go with an Oscar and Plec. Go larger if you can. Not taller, but longer and wider.

48" x 18" x 18" is 55g, which is the minimum size for an oscar and a plec which is why I said that size We're aiming for a 48"/60" x 24" x 18". The plec isn't going to be big thankfully. Also on the lookout for a superdooper external filter (FX5-ish) for as cheap as poss too. Was offered a new FX5 for £90 and missed out on it, argh!

Kathy, I'm thinking in US gallons, sorry. The Canadian tanks are specced to US standards, not UK. 48 x 18 x 18 is a standard 65 over here

Lol if we joined together the tanks we have running and spare we would have one hell of a hugeeeeeeeeeeeee tank lol just no room for it! It would make a nice all along one wall feature ;D Biggest we have is 3ft, to some 4ft isn't that much bigger but we'd love one lol
Do you have a maximum price in mind? 'cause that would help lol

Thanks - it's not much bigger but it's big enough to run a decent community tank and free up the old one for the margies ;D
