If you don't want to use rubber bands , have you considered nylon/plastic cable ties??

Hi Daz,
My lfs guy showed me those plastic cable ties.....the ones that usually lock in place and won't budge but these ones can be opened and tightened again.
I'll have to locate some big diy shops near me and see if they stock them.
As soon as I get my filter covered I can introduce my only male cherry shrimp to the harem of females I have in there. ;D

u know thw cotton wool buds, on the plastic sticks, cut the bud off at an angle and slide the stick through the grill then fit the foam on it, wil my juwel filter i cut a slit in the foam so it attaches to the sticks on both sides of the grill

i have a good brain ;D i thought about toothpicks originally but they might be treated with stuff and would rot and saw the cotton wool buds on the side that i was saving for if i needed to treat a fish for anchor worms
