How often do you have to change the peat bedding that the snails are on? As it is warm and moist doesn't it smell after a short while? Also Emma that white volcanic rock you use is it Perlite? Just wondering you know.

yup the white stuff is perlite! also i think that the amount u have to clean the substrate depends on the number of snails u have. snail poop doesnt smell but its kinda gross looking (most bodily excretions are lol) I clean my peat by cooking it inthe oven. this means u dont have to damage ur purse or the enviroment by continually buying new! many snailers do this. if u have one snail in a well sized tank u would probably just wanna clean the sides of the tank and remove the snail poo rather than removing the bedding weekly. thenu could replace the peat once a month. (obviously if u see anything lurking in the peat a quick dose in a hot oven is a good idea)
