Thank you-- taking a slimy little bow here- These snails came from Greece but some are living and roaming the states. Bathe them--- Do I wash their little stinky arm pits, scrubb their little bottoms nope. Their total bathe consits of. Put them on a piece of slate and mist them good. They love it. No I do not have to keep them warm. In fact high temps would stress them. There care is the same as you do for the GALS from what I read here. I have had them for almost a year now. They did their little hibernation thing . Also lay tons of eggs. I have them in a 30 long aquarium set up pretty much like a natural enviroment. Mist the house twice a day. Real friendly chaps. The USDA Knows I have them. Have them all identified as to species. Very easy to care for. Next best thing to having a GAL Of course having a GAL would be my hearts desire. Not legal here. I did alot of research on the care of my little buggers. Some on applesnail have them and keep them in plastic boxes with holes punched in the top. This just makes me want to pop my cork. That is no life for a snail. Hope I'm not stepping on anyones toes by saying that. Snails need fresh air and moisture. Mine have their little fake trees to climb, plants to climb, little caves with slate tops to hang upside down to sleep. They love to sleep upside down. I had just cleaned their tank and they are looking in there food dish. I just love them This is part of their house Just for fun--My Christmas card with Odessa on it. I sent this to quite a few people I'm such a nut over snails. Hugs, Joyce

Joyce, those little snails are adorable! Love their home, as well. Makes me want to go looking for landsnails around here now, but Mark may have a fit if I set up another tank for "native" snails that don't have the "cool factor" of the applesnails

Hmm Joyce, How do you cover your 30 long so they don't get out. I have mine is plastic boxes and have punched holes in the lids. But am thinking of getting a regular aquarium tank for them. lol it would take up less room than the plastic boxes do.

Thanks again. That Tiger Snail is the most beautiful snail I have ever seen.
You are right I don't need GALS but do love them. They would survive our winters. Nothing would be left for the little snails to eat. Ruby, I bought a roll of plastic window screen. No metal in it at all. Then I took the lid to the aquarium and used a heated knife and cut off the inside, leaving just the strip in the middle where the light sits on the glass, and the frame. I cut a piece of the screen to overlap the tank about two inches all sides. I sit the lid on this. Plenty of fresh air. Snails can't get out and are healthy. Plenty of air circulating is very important. Snails can get ill from bad uncirculated air. Everything I read on snail farming, really stressed how important fresh air is to snails. The tank sits by a open window. Thanks again Hugs, Joyce
