Val, I try to give my snails a variety, cuz thats best for them.. but to be honest i have found mine prefer cucumber and lettuce to anything else and they usually leave other food stuffs.. they also love courgette! I give mine a variety so that i know that the varied diet is on offer, even if they refuse it! ;D I guess its a bit like kids really. you attempt to give them nourishing food even if u know its gonna end up stuck to the table or in the bin. It just kinda relieves the guilt a bit ;D

I give mine as much variety as I can. It's important to feed them a mixed diet. Firstly, you minimise the chances of them missing out on something they need and secondly, you will end up feeding them stuff that is maybe not so good for them much less. Snails (well Cornu apsersum) have a 120 day memory for food smells, so a good variety as babies should ensure they are much less fussy in adulthood.
Linda, I recently ground up sunflower seeds, mixed with water and my snails loved it. My margies don't eat the hemp but they ate the sunflower seats. Which is unusual, my margies usually prefer sweeter stuff. Perhaps, they could be turned into biscuits or even a mix.
