Hope Ruth won't mind me posting some of the pics she sent me. They're really gorgeous fulicas ;D (before their bath, but shows their beauuutiful bodies) Aren't they just the prettiest fulicas ever? ;D

This is one of the snails Ruth is definitely sending me (pmsl). Oh alright, alright, this is George, the spiny mouse. I'm in love with him, but he's Ruth's ;D

Oh my, I'm surprised the snails are out and about the way they are, after all they've been through! Gorgeous, though!
Is there a link to a story about this rescue? I'd be very interested in reading the whole thing, if there's something online about this.

You'll be hard pushed to find anything public online now, but if you want to speak privately, let me know

Hey up peeps, Course i don't mind you posting them Kathy! They really are gawgus snailees. When i collected them they were all aestivating but by the time i got home they were all awake and ready for action (then again i don't think they could have stayed asleep even if they'd wanted to with my bf's driving : . We got them home last night and i can honestly say that they haven't stopped eating since, they are real piggies (just like their temporary mum ). They are very friendly and are happy to have a slime around on ur hand. Thanks for everyones kind words Oh and Kattthhhy

Thanks Sian Sadly it sounds like theyve got a bit of recovering to do as they are weaker than we thought - although nowhere near as poorly as we suspected they were before Ruth went in. They're doing much better than they might have been. I'll post new pics of my foster bunch tomorrow!

Well I'm glad to report that we've had *some* interest in these snails already - they're gaining notoriety online and seem to be etting a growing fan base. I'll be posting pics tomorrow when they arrive to entice people into taking a couple on. Fulicas are such a pretty species, it's a shame there are so many for rehoming

Right here are some new pics of the rescues. Lisa has already taken 3 as permanent additions to her household (*yay*), and these were the remaining 10: Row 1 Row 2 Since then I have picked two to stay with me. One was the smallest, and the other has an injury which is pretty nasty so I'd rather he stayed here to recover, if he can. Down to the final 8 (God it's like Snail Idol!): A couple of them munching away. The one with the really bold stripe nearly stayed as a permanent resident because he's really gorgeous (he has the darkest bod), but then we found the one with the injury, and he had to stay. Will post pics of our new additions on another thread so as not to distract from these getting homes.

**Information for potential adopters**
The St George's Day rescue fulicas will be ready for rehoming in roughly 2 weeks. These fulicas were saved from a rescue that was closing down, and are in two batches - one with Ruth and one with me. There are approximately 18 in total looking for homes. These are very special fulicas, and are in need of some recouperation before rehoming. These snails will be available for adoption to adult, permanent homes (no under 18s, sorry), preferably not to homes with huge collections of snails as they will need some special attention. They are not to be bred from at any point in the future, and not to be sold on - they've been through enough. Anyone wishing to adopt some of these snails can contact me, or Ruth. These snails really are just so beautiful - the photos above are of my (KathyM) batch (top pics are of the whole lot) - I'm sure Ruth will add some new ones of hers.

Ok, here are some pictures of my batch. I've gone a bit picture mad but wanted to show off how gawgus they really are. Heres a picture of them all to show what lovely colouring they have And a close up of them scoffing their faces *lol* ;D When they first arrived they just sat on the floor of their tank, i don't think they had the strength to move around very much, however, over the past couple of days they have gradually become more and more active. Looking at them now, at least half of them are sliming their way up the side of the tank, attempting to make a break for it
