Hi as a newbie I need some help. We have got 3 GALS for the summer holiday, my son is mad on them. We have had them a few times now and wanted to breed some for him to keep. Stage one complete, we have 3 baby snails from the first clutch. But now we need to know what to do. They are about seven days since they hatched, and are growing well. We have them seperated in an icecream container with some lettuce. What else do we need to do?? Do we need to put cuttlefish, is this the best for calcium?? Any help much appreciated.

Yep, cuttlefish is a must, and you can also get liquid calcium (from Daz on here - it's not essential but it does seem to help them grow well) to add to their spray - a couple of drops per full spray bottle of water, mist them and their tank with it daily. Keep them out of drafts, somewhere warmish (although fulicas aren't that fussy - room temp will do). Lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber/courgette/sweet potato/carrot all do nicely for babies, but as they grow they'll eat what the adults do Good luck with them - you'll do fine - any pics?

Thanks for the advice, babies doing well, currently eating the shells. They now have food and new cuttlefish and seem to be doing well. Three so far hatched which is perfect for us. I'll post some photo's tomorrow. Is it worth getting a heat mat?
