Finally it's happened! ;D For the last 3 months i've watched my only tiger shrimp female have 2 batches of babies and she's due to drop another lot within a week or so but none of my cherry shrimp females were getting pregnant. I have three females and my only male in with the tigers but the cherry shrimp just weren't getting down to it. Anyways I checked my tank this morning and woooooohoooooo nice orange eggs.....now I hope my only male cherry shrimp fertilizes them.....if not she will drop the eggs in a couple of days. Here's a pic of the brand new mum....

Cheers. ;D
I would guess the adults are around an inch long. I got them when they were very small so this is their first experience of eggs.
Sadly she's lost half the eggs she was carrying so she looks slimmer now. I'm not sure if she will drop the others....I suspect she probably will but i've never had a shrimp drop eggs before so i'm not sure.
My tiger shrimp is still very full of eggs and will be due to drop within the next few days but my cherrys just aint gettin the idea lol. There's a shrimp keeper who also lives in London and he has the very same problem.....lots of tiger shrimplets (not that they are a problem...i'm smitten with them) but no cherrys.....and tigers are meant to be more difficult to keep than cherrys.
Back to the drawing board for me.

aww... that's a pity..... perhaps eggs not all fertilized?? Hope the remaining ones end up as shrimplets I can't find any cherry/tiger shrimps in my LFS's. One of the shop keepers told me that they don't get them in since they don't seem to do well. He thinks it's probably due to hard London water. All I can find is amano shrimps which I allready have. What sort of prices they charge on cherries/tigers in your LFS? I might consider making a trip there to get some ;D ;D

I hope she does keep the remaining eggs *fingers crossed*. I'm told Tigers generally don't do well in hard water....I had about 5 but now I have a male and female left and lots of shrimplets. I think the deaths were related to previous over-crowding (too many spixis : rather than the water because the babies and parents are doing great now I sold lots of spixis. Cherry shrimp love hard water and don't do so well in soft water. Nitrates is definitely an issue.....IME the females won't have the glowing saddle or become berried if the nitrates are above 20. I've kept amanos for almost 2 years now....my female is always sagging with eggs but I don't have the set up to grow the larvae. In my LFS the cherrys were £2.50 each and the Tigers were £2.00 each. I haven't been there in months so I haven't a clue what they have in shrimp-wise at the moment.

I was a bit dubious when the shop keeper told me about the hard water coz the info I read before I went there were same as you said. I'm surprised that tiger shrimps are cheaper than the cherries. They are definitely more expensive than the cherries on eBay ;D

Yep I think Tigers are cheaper because they tend to be less hardy.

I hope she does keep the remaining eggs *fingers crossed*. She still has the remaining eggs (about 3 or 4) so they should hatch according to advice i've been given. I can't wait to see cherry shrimplets. ;D

Cheers isnail,
I keep several cherries with my tiger shrimp and shrimplets and a few female cherries in my main snail tank.
I plan to move all the cherries into my main tank when I reduce the number of apple snails in there and shrimplet-proof the filter.
