Just bought two lovely snails as a birthday present to give to my boyfriend next week. Came straight home and went on the computer to find out how to care for them properly, as the people at the pet shop were a little bit unhelpful. The snails were living in sludge with mouldy bits of lettuce all over the place. We asked them if we needed a heat mat and they said that no, they would be fine at room temperature. Now I've had a look I've seen they do need a heat mat- d'oh! I've got them in the warmest room of the house and after I gave them a wipe with a damp tissue they're looking quite nice, but have flakey shells. Is this normal? They're currently feasting on a bit of spinach I just wanted to ask everyone for their tips on getting them looking nice, and to tell me exactly whether or not they need a heat mat and if it is worth buying one and also a thing to check the humidity of the tank. Thanks for your help Cookies for reading all of that and I might post a couple of pictures
