Well hi there and welcome! Why are you waiting for the fishies to die? You can add snails to an already-stocked fish tank, unless you got those big bruiser fishies Actually, if the fish you have are small and docile, now would be a good time to add the snails, as the tank is already cycled!

Hi and welcome, Like luvs said if you don't have bruisers or nippers and you have adequate tank space you could add an aquatic snail or two. There are several types you can find in the UK including - Pomacea canaliculata (which grows quite large, eats all plants and needs 5 gallons of tank space* per adult snail.
- Pomacea bridgesii (doesn't grow as large as canas, doesn't eat live plants and needs 2.5 gallons of tank space* per adult snail.
- Asolene spixi (smallest and hardest to find in aquarium shops of the 3 species that matures at 1 inch, babies and young snails will eat live plants but adults don't and they need around 2 gallons of tank space*.
*depending on filtration. Some shops stock nerites as well but I haven't found any in my local fish shop. Janet
