W00H00! I think I'd die without the comp. Just built a new one, and the old parts are still good, so I have a backup Need to figure out why my 'net connection is sooooooooooo slooooooooow tho! The old clunker was lighting compared to this one. Perhaps it's the new router *scratches head*

Well we just paid a lot of money to fix a computer that wasn't technically broken. Not the computer guy's fault, all mine because I didn't try an ethernet cable. Well it needed a cleanup anyhoo, even if I did lose all my photos.....

LOL I think I had copies of my pictures on both the old harddrives, and now on the new ones! I lost EVERYthing once before, NEVER again!

Yeah that's what I'll do in future - I was too complacent *lol*. Now my computer won't let me play music - is saying an audio device isn't functionning. Trying to phone the shop but constantly engaged

What do you use to play music? The CDrom or from files? Check all connections, reboot the comp, and have another go. That may mean taking the cover off the tower and making sure all cables are plugged in nice and tight to the various drives.

According to computer dude, drivers are corrupt and he promised he'd email me new ones. Fingers crossed!

Kathy, just go online to the manufacturer's site and download the newest drivers for whatever is "not working".
IE if it's the CD-rom or the DVD-RW or even the motherboard. Just go to the home site for the product that isn't working and get em yourself. Easy peasy.

I've done the "update" drivers, and that didn't work, but went to C-Media site and the different product drivers went over my head - none matched the file name, and the guy at the computer knows what's in mine *lol*. He didn't email though so looks like I'm going in tomorrow!

Oops lol. I have driverguide.com on my faves, it's good for when the manufacturers don't have an updated driver (or for when windows update gives you the wrong one!! It's done it with mums, it updated her sound driver and took away her sound : You just have to read through and make sure you're getting a good one. They have ratings etc, so it's pretty easy. Goodluck Kathy lol
