i have about 10 apple snails and was told that they need calcium, they r in a 55 gal aquarium and i was wondering if i could put in a 600mg calcium pill

Usually the Calcium pills sold for humans have other things in them, not just Calcium.
Better would be to get some crushed coral, or coral fingers, from the SaltWater section of the lfs, and stick some in a filter baggie in the filter. Good calcium-rich foods will help as well, like Dandelion leaves, kale, collard greens, romaine lettuce, parsley, and other dark leafy greens.
Daz here also sells liquid calcium that you can dose the tank with, as well.
