Hatchling Snail

Hi I'm new here and have a weird snail situation.
I have never seen snails in Tempe, AZ before. My hubby & I moved to a new town-home a year and a half ago. I didn't see any snails last year.
About a month ago it rained on and off quite a bit (well for us desert folk) and one night after a rain coming in from CA, we had tons of snails. They were on the walk, climbing the walls and stuck to the front window. As far as i can tell from doing a little research on the internet they look like Malaysian Trumpet Snails that are in a fish tank. They had a long cone shaped body unlike the round ones I've seen in Montana in the woods. It's been pretty cold here, down in the 30's at night.
It rained again this past weekend and a couple were marching right across our walk again.
They strange thing is that I haven't seen them anywhere else around here.
Is it possible that someone had emptied a fish tank a few years back and they re-hydrated with the rain? Or did they come in with the rain? They really creeped me out the first time, it was like the Twilight Zone. Now I'm wondering if i should put a couple in my fish tank to help clean it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
